Lita Rossana Ford Also called Lita Ford, is an American musician, singer and guitarist who was born in Britain. She was a lead guitarist for The Runaways, a hard-rock group comprised of females in the late 1970s. Their punk rock music and rebellious lyrics got them noticed by the rock community. The band was never able to The Runaways to become popular in America, but they gained a lot of attention in other countries, especially Japan. After the band split in 1979, Ford began a successful solo career with heavy metal. Her debut solo album was called 'Dancin' on the Edge which was followed by her album Out for Blood. Both the albums did not receive much success and Ford disappeared from the world of rock for a few years. Her biggest hit, 'Lita' was released in 1989. The lead single "Kiss My Deadly" and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever" were huge hits. Her success was unfortunately not long-lasting and, for a few years after, she went under the radar. The resurgence of her career came with albums "Black" in 1995 as well as "Wicked Wonderland" which came out almost 15 years following. The most recent album "Time Capsule," released in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine presented her with the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
